Marine Electrician

We specialise in custom high-quality builds and have established an exceptional reputation over our 11 years in business. We have a strong build pipeline, additional expansion planned through our export program and have launched our Amphibious design so it’s critical this key role is filled.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Marine Electrician to join our growing team. If you enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and being part of high-quality custom boat builds, we want to hear from you.

This role involves installing, testing, fault-finding, and commissioning electrical systems on new trailer boat builds and refits, ensuring all work meets New Zealand marine safety standards and customer expectations.

As our Marine Electrician, you will be responsible for a wide range of electrical and marine fit-out tasks across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Marine & Site Electrical Work:

• Plan and measure wiring loom diagrams based on customer fit-out specifications
• Liaise with wiring loom suppliers to review and sign off drawings and ensure timely delivery
• Install 12V / 24V DC systems on trailer boats
• Wire switch panels, fuse blocks, and distribution boards
• Install and commission electrical systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and carry out repairs
• Carry out additional site electrical work as required, including test and tag

Marine Fit-Out Tasks:

• Complete engine rigging and fit-out work
• Install bilge pumps, wash-down systems, freshwater systems, and fuel systems
• Install project-specific items including windows, upholstery, decking, and accessories
• Assist with general fit-out work as required across projects

Qualifications and experience:

Our ideal candidate will be qualified with a minimum of 3 years’ experience, ideally in the marine sector, and be able to demonstrate the following:

• Proven electrical experience within the marine industry is advantageous.
• Experience with installation and termination of cabling in a marine environment
• Ability to develop and review wiring loom diagrams
• Excellent knowledge and ability to interpret marine electrical schematics
• Proven fault-finding and problem-solving capability
• Relevant electrical trade qualification or diploma
• Marine electrical qualifications highly regarded

Skills & Attributes:

• Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems and troubleshooting
• Good understanding of marine safety and compliance standards
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or within a team
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Comfortable working in workshop environments and confined spaces
• Willingness to travel to customer sites when required
• Physically capable of lifting, bending, and handling equipment
